Cambodia and Cuba have formalized an agreement to enhance cooperation in the tourism sector through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement was signed by Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, Cuba’s Ambassador to Cambodia, during a ceremony in Siem Reap province.
The MoU establishes a collaborative framework between the two nations’ tourism authorities, aiming to foster tourism development, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience, and extend Cambodia’s tourism influence into Latin American markets. The agreement is founded on principles of equality and mutual benefit, seeking to create new opportunities for both countries within the tourism sector.
Diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Cuba date back to 1960, and the two nations have maintained strong bilateral ties over the decades. This new agreement marks a significant step in deepening their relationship by focusing on mutual interests in tourism.
With this MoU, both countries are expected to benefit from shared experiences and expertise in tourism management, potentially leading to increased tourist exchanges and economic growth in the sector.
